While Sac has temporarily retired from blogging, he has involuntarily agreed to submit today's cred-crushing guest commentary by answering the rhetorical, "How punk are you?"
This is how punk I am. Took the kid and his friend to see Green Day on Friday at Arco fucking Arena. It was fascinating. Kid was not impressed by my stories of seeing them at the Bear's Lair on the UC campus in '90 or '91. I should clarify, I was there only because he's 12, which is too young to just drop him off. Green Day is HUGE amongst the 10-14 year olds, and they were in full effect at the show. Most family friendly show I've ever been to. It was like a giant field trip with all the dads and/or moms with their pre-teen progenies. Billie Joe has fully embraced the arena rock. He trotted out every cliche in the book. Only Paul Stanley surpasses him, I'm not kidding. It was glorious, actually.
No point in serving up a Green Day song so let's go with Billie Joe's previous side project, Pinhead Gunpowder. Sounds just like earlier GD anyway.
