TOP Music #9: Artless (the band of Mykel Board)

Mykel Board, the "You're Wrong" MaximumRocknRoll columnist for more than 20 years and determined beer drinker for much longer than that, recorded the traditional "Beer is Better Than Girls Are" in the late 80's and I knew the record was a must buy when I saw him play a free show (early 90's?) in DC's Dupont Circle where two bona-fide riot grrrls were so disgusted that they took it upon themselves to stick pieces of paper with quotes like "this is offensive" into the records he was selling at a little merch table. I'm sure he was hoping they left their phone numbers too.

In any case, the man is a legend and he's still kicking around New York town with a Drink Club and two books: I, A Me-ist or The Portable Mykel Board and Even A Daughter Is Better Than Nothing. The former is a collection of his notable MRR columns and the latter is about his travels in Mongolia. No doubt they are worthy of a blog book tour but I think I shot my load on King Dork.
