I've been lost in a sea of
prog all week and it's time to return home for the weekend and matzo ball soup. Two shots of the good stuff should rid me of the scurvy, rickets, and damn dancing midgets with eye patches.
First up,
Teenage Head are never described without using the "Canadian Ramones" crutch so there's no reason not to here. I only became aware of them when
Screeching Weasel covered "Ain't Got No Sense" which connects the snots since SW were the very best at picking up the Ramones torch when they started sucking after Too Tough To Die. The only problem with the TH original here is that it should be cut in half.
Another great song that benefits from simple division is the Furs' "Into You Like A Train" and
Jawbreaker does just that by creating a superior (I think), shorter version during the
Dear You recording sessions. It works too because Blake sounded like a rougher Richard Butler anyway.
