On the ass-scraping end of the first dot-com bar crawl, one of my co-workers was Justin Chearno, quintessential band guy and one of the nicest persons around. (Without knowing it, I probably saw him on my monthly trips to
Vinyl Ink in Silver Spring, MD during college.) Veteran of
Pitchblende,
Turing Machine, even played with
Unrest at one point, now in the
Panthers, he's the archetype journeyman of art punk, indie ambient, space or whatever rock.
Somewhere around the time Eddie Vedder's wife was riding low with
Hovercraft in the early/mid 90's, Justin was doing likewise in the
Doldrums, perhaps the least accessible of all his related projects. But there's no denying the instant appreciation of the song title "HTMLosers" given that it was written in '94.
