 Last time I was in Maryland and on the family's computer, I noticed my mom kept a bunch of sites bookmarked in a folder named "blogs." Curious, I explored further. "Do you really check this stuff out?" "Yes." Of course I was pleased at her reading list since we can now discuss at length what we really think of Anna Wintour ("cow") and other important matters like Frank Bruni's inability to write his way out of a McDonald's bag. I asked her to name her favorites. These are kid-tested, bubbe-approved: Gawker, HiFiNY, Low Culture, Manhattan Transfer, Wonkette.
