About three years ago, after I read this
review on Pitchfork, I downloaded as many songs by the Mad Capsule Markets as I could find. Like the review says, this is some hev-ee shit. Scoring major originality points, these Japanese stomp monsters take the bone-crushing Wax Trax/Ministry/anything Al Jourgensen sound and when you least expect it - pow! - rice balls explode with candy-colored confetti and poppy-punk choruses. It's like a nice little pat on the back after getting kicked in the gut a couple times.
