In a perfect world my mp3 blog would consist entirely of daily picks from the Mr. T Experience's esteemed
sum-body of work. I've already gone to the MTX well several times and eventually I'll write my argument for Dr. Frank's inclusion in the R-n-R Hall of Fame. For now, read this
article that compares him to Stephin Merritt. It's a connection I've always made and if you throw
Blake Schwarzenbach in there you get the all-time heartbreak/self-deprecating/clever-wordplay trio.
The first two MTX albums are a little spotty (everything after is a gold medal ceremony with "Pleasant Valley Sunday" as their national anthem) but here is an inspired early classic presented as mini-dissertation. Owning vinyl versions provide the benefit of large inlays which make for easy scanning. Follow along with the lyrics above. (Or try this
bigger version of the image.) Then read
Dr. Frank's blog everyday.
